Open to those all writers who have received no "payment" for published manuscripts in the category they are entering; "payment" includes free copies of journals in which their work has appeared. Previous first and second place winners are ineligible to enter categories in which they have won; they may enter other categories. The contest is not open to Sinclair part- and full-time faculty and staff. Prose (fiction and creative non-fiction) must not be between 500-5000 words per selection. Poetry must not exceed 100 lines per poem. All entries must be a digital text file on 8.5"x11" document, 1" margins. Double space for prose, single space for poetry. Include full name, address, and title of the manuscript in the upper left corner of the first page of each entry. Place last name and title at the top of each subsequent page. The winning entry in each category will receive $60. Second place in each category will receive $30. Third place in each category will receive $20. The above winners along with those receiving honorable mention will receive certificates suitable for framing. Contest winners will be presented awards during a March ceremony at Sinclair Community College. Winners need not be present; awards will be mailed. A final award to the winner of all categories will be made on behalf of the Antioch Writers' Workshop and includes a full tuition waiver to their week long workshop July. Other first place winners will receive a scholarship to the Saturday AWW. Fees are slightly higher than posting via regular mail but this reduces paper costs and postage! For all poetry entries, you may submit up to 5 poems, just be sure they are in one text file (doc or docx please). Fee for adult entries is $7.00 per entry; fee for high school entries is $5.00 per entry.
