1. The competition is open to original, unpublished short fiction with no more than 5,000 words. Judging is blind. Writers outside of Union County will judge the Short Story competition. The judges will not have access to the cover sheets, so the student will remain anonymous. Winners will receive a monetary award. 2. The entry fee is $10 per work. You may enter one short story or more, but all work must be entered at the same time. You may send one check for one entry or a batch of entries. Entries received without an entry fee will be disqualified. 3. All entries must be typed on one side of 8 ½ x 11-inch white paper in 12 pt. font and a digital copy as a pdf file on a disk or flash drive. Short stories will not be returned so keep a copy for your records. 4. All entries must be in English, original, RiverFest Literary Committee reserves the one-time publication rights for winning entries, after which publication rights revert to the writer. 5. Winners will be notified. If you have not been contacted, you can assume your entry is not a finalist. 6. Winners will be recognized and prizes awarded at the literary festival luncheon in New Albany, Mississippi, Friday, September 23, 2011. 7. The following are not permitted to enter: employees of UCDA and New Albany Gazette Newspaper and their immediate families. 8.
