A. Eligibility

This contest is open to all.

B. Theme and Content

1. The essay must be original, not previously published in print or online, and shall be within 1,500 to 2,000 words in English.

2. The theme for the contest is: “The Philippine Nation’s potential in the Energy-Climate Era.”

C. Submission

1. Only one submission per person will be accepted.

2. Start of submission will be on 10 March 2010. The deadline of submission will be on September 15, 2010. No entries will be accepted post-deadline.

3. Entries may be withdrawn at any time. However, previously withdrawn entries may only be reaccepted once. All entries will be considered property of Clean Energy Philippines.

4. All entries will be posted online upon submission.

5. Valid entries will be sent to cemashow2010@gmail.com and should include the applicant’s name, the essay, contact information and postal address in the e-mail.

6. Each entry submitted must be the work of one person and may not be the collective work of more than one person. By submitting an entry, applicants certify that their essays are original, authored solely by them and do not infringe upon the rights of any third parties.

D. Criteria for Judging

1. Entries will be judged anonymously by a panel of judges selected and approved by the Clean Energy Philippines Editorial team.

2. Entries will be judged according to the following criteria:

2.1 Substance and originality: 45%

2.2 Writing style, composition and organization: 45%

2.3 Number of unique and valid comments on the CEP Essay entry blog post. 10%

3. The winning essay will be announced at the CEP website by December 10, 2010. The winner will be awarded a choice of an Apple iPad or a trip for 2 to Boracay on March 2011, and a Certificate of Appreciation on the last day of CEMA Show 2010.

E. Others

1. All essays submitted may be used or published in whole or in part by Clean Energy Philippines or by other parties with its written permission. Clean Energy Philippines reserves the right not to publish any essay it deems inappropriate for any reason.

2. Clean Energy Philippines reserves the right not to award a prize or any prizes where submissions do not meet contest standards or criteria.
