Hey Kids, here's your chance to win money and prizes, get your writing published in a book, and help teach people about the things that make adopted pets great!

Kids (ages 8-16) can enter this competition by answering the question, "I love my adopted pet because..." in an essay, poem, story, or drawing.

Deadline: June 15th, 2010

Type of submissions: Short stories, essays, poems, artwork. No submitted work should be longer than 1200 words. Parents may coach children but may not complete the work for the child. Stories can be about any adopted or rescued pet, be it a dog, cat, snake, hampster, etc. Stories may NOT be about animals purchased at pet stores.

Age Divisions: 8-12 years old, 13-16 years old

Prizes: 1st place in each division receives $75, 2nd gets $50, top 5 in each category receive t-shirts. All entrants will receive bookmarks and will be considered for our upcoming book, "I Love Buddy."

Entry Fee: $10 suggested donation

Number of allowable submissions per child: Child may submit work in any category multiple times. There is not limit to the number of submissions per child.

How to Enter: Simply fill out the form below, pasting your contest entry into appropriate field. Contact us if you have a submission that must be mailed.

Winner Announcements: Winners will be announced in July 2010.

Publication Date: "I Love Buddy", full of the best children's works about their adopted pets, will be published by September 2010.

*We must have at least 40 entries per category to award cash prizes and publish the book. All stories, regardless of whether they place or not, will be considered for inclusion in the "I Love Buddy" book.
